When you hear about recycled shoes you may or may not think about cheap shoes. Interestingly enough, there are some rather unique and creative thought associations made when people hear “recycled.” Recycled shoes can be cheap shoes, and they can be rather high end and overpriced shoes. It all depends on the details, just like many things in life.

Recycled shoes are shoes that are made from materials that were once something else, often tires. Cheap shoes are shoes that are made to be cost effective. Not everyone associates these two concepts with the same product. In fact, there are plenty of people who associate recycled shoes with that ever famous 90s term, “yuppies.”

When we recycle our products we give them a chance to become something else. Most of us are somewhat unaware of what these new items might be when we start recycling. However, if we continue to recycle our products we can keep the ability to creatively and attractively create whole new lines of products, including shoes. If you believe that recycled shoes are trend setting, you would be right. If you believe that these shoes are specifically overpriced to attract a certain type of consumer, you would be wrong.

Traditional shoes and recycled shoes can be compared side by side and you aren’t going to find some strange quality defect. The recycled shoes was simply made from what used to be thrown into landfills and dumped out in the oceans. By doing so, they also cut down on the energy used to produce their shoes, creating a smaller carbon footprint. Because the manufacturer chose to use recycled material for the shoe, their bottom line looks better as they put less money into the shoes. If you want cheap shoes that are environmentally responsible, no sweat.

The reality is something entirely different altogether. When you think recycled shoes you can also think cheap shoes that are well made from what would otherwise be, well, trash. Shoe manufacturers who use the recycled material to make shoes are not necessarily looking to be trendy. If that is a happy byproduct, then all the better for the shoe manufacturer. However, what they have discovered is that they can save money through recycled products, do something better for the environment, and create a good product all the way around.

You’re certainly not restricted to boring colors or styles, and you don’t end up looking like you’re wearing a grass slipper. Whether the recycled shoes use leather, canvas, rubber, or a combination of all three it is easy to find cheap recycled shoes to support your favorite causes.

It is interesting that when the shoe companies found a way to be more environmentally responsible there were so many varying opinions that impact public and consumer views on the end result. What makes it so interesting is that despite the wide variety of thoughts on recycled shoes, those that also qualify as cheap shoes are flying off the shelf. All kinds of shoes can be made from recycled products, although when we think of recycled shoes we most often associate it with the recycled rubber. Canvas and leather can also come from other sources that make them inclusively recycled as well.

No matter what kind of shoe you need, you can find them in recycled shoes. Mens shoes, womens shoes, and kids or baby shoes are found in recycled styles that are really very slick and cool for today’s styles. You get to save money while the planet gets a little bit of a break.
