The Best Suits Are Made To Measure
Wednesday, 17. June 2009
A custom, or made to measure suit is made specifically for you, taking into consideration, your measurements and the style of suit you want. It takes a very skilled and experienced tailor to do this intricate type of work. He or she has often learned the trade from a parent or grandparent, working for years in the family owned shop.
Finding such a tailor will be very easy. The phone books have many to choose from. So many in fact, that you will have a problem choosing the best one, whether its best for value, location, speed or finished quality.
With a large variety of tailors, picking the best one can be a difficult task. Asking around, nonetheless, can be the best way to find an excellent tailor. If you need the absolute best tailor, then one with a strong reputation that offers excellent service will be your best bet.
Obviously it will cost considerably more to have a suit personally made to measure than to buy one mass produced from the rails. It is money well spent though, because the quality, comfort, look and longevity of a made to measure men’s suit is far better in every way.
Several important steps will take place at the first meeting with the tailor. He will measure you. Then will also help you choose a style of suit that best fits your proportions and the type of occasions that you will wear the suit to. You will pick things like the fabric, color, and finishing touches.
Once the tailor has a mock-up of the suit, you will go for a very rough fitting. You must try on this “suit” to be sure that the final product will fit perfectly. The suit is not by any means finished at this point. It will look much better the next time you see it.
Depending on the complexity of the design and the accuracy of original measurements, there may be several fittings for you to attend. Each step is necessary, to insure a perfect fit.
As soon as the fit is correct, the tailor will create the actual suit. This step may take a considerable amount of time, depending on the pattern of the suit and the workload that the tailor has. It may be hard to wait to see the finished product, but the wait should be well worth it, given the level of artistry involved in creating a made to measure, custom suit.
