Since titanium rings are somewhat new to the jewelry scene, many people feel uncomfortable giving them. It’s as though they’re unsure whether the particular occasion warrants such a gift. This is a completely understandable feeling to have.
While there’s really no wrong occasion for titanium rings, some times are more fitting or popular for this kind of jewelry than others. Here are a couple of times when a titanium ring is sure to be appreciated as a well chosen gift.

Strength and low weight are properties becoming more in demand in our country. Titanium has become the obvious choice for these applications. Racing industries like boats, auto, and motorcycles are rife with titanium parts. Many of the higher end cars like BMW and Mercedes have embraced titanium as a dependable and performance enhancing metal.
Another example of the effectiveness of titanium was the first massive use in the SR-71 blackbird aircraft. Since that time the military and commercial aircraft have an abundance of this metal throughout their aircraft.
Titanium is increasingly used in sporting goods equipment such as golf clubs, tennis rackets and bike frames. My favorite driver is made from titanium and it performs the best of any drivers I have used.
If you have allergy problems then you will appreciate jewelry and glasses that use titanium instead of traditional metals in their construction. Because titanium is hypo-allergenic it will be a problem free item to wear close to your skin.
Do horses prefer titanium? I would say that the answer is yes. When they are fitted with shoes that are made from titanium they are definitely going to feel much lighter and will last much longer. That is why farriers choose them over steel these days. Read more... (375 words)

The SR-71 Blackhawk stealth aircraft was the first to use titanium on a large scale. Commercial aircraft and other military planes have huge amounts of this metal in their designs. Titanium really flies these days.
If you are a golfer then you know that titanium is making an impact on sporting goods as well. My Big Bertha Calloway driver is made of titanium and I am hitting the ball farther than ever. Baseball bats and hiking equipment also use a high amount of titanium.
The fact that it is hypoallergenic lends itself to everything from frames for your glasses to fine jewelry and unique wedding bands. Glasses in particular are lighter, and more durable. Great qualities to have in any metal. Read more... (378 words)

My oldest son chose a titanium wedding ring designed with a carbon fiber inlay. I was impressed with it’s good looks and the masculine, unique style. Although I was expecting him to choose a traditional gold ring, I know he made a good choice for his generation. Because I like the masculine look and style, I have two titanium rings myself.

While the first word association to titanium is probably not jewelry, it seems that it is the new hot thing, especially among men. It is the new rising star of jewelry industry, slowly replacing gold and sliver.
What is titanium? Strictly scientifically, titanium is a chemical element with the symbol Ti, atomic number 22 and atomic mass 47.90 amu. It’s one of the strongest readily available metals, as strong as steel, but 45% lighter. Commercially it’s used anywhere where strength and weight are an issue – aerospace applications, automobiles, bicycle frames, etc. It’s also used for medical purposes (surgical instruments, prosthetics) and jewelry.
In many ways titanium is also a great material for jewelry. It’s 100% hypoallergenic, which means it won’t make your skin discolor or become irritated, it’s rust-resistant, strong, lightweight, durable, and very importantly, much less expensive than gold, silver or platinum.
