Diamonds have always been considered as women have preferred jewelry. Through the years, diamonds have created problems, conflicts, and certain environmental concerns. Some people believe that the problems that diamonds cause are becoming obsolete because of the emergence of lab-grown diamonds. People are initially fooled by the term by which it is called. In previous years, lab-grown or synthetic diamonds had a bad connotation. Today, they are highly accepted by everyone not just for its consistent composition that is almost identical with a natural diamond and for its quality, but because synthetic diamonds were able to solve the problems that natural diamonds have stirred up.
You see, behind the gleaming beauty and elegance of a naturally acquired diamond is the dark story of how it was taken and the negative effects that it imposes on the environment. You have to put in mind that when you are buying a natural diamond, you are condoning child labor and other inhumane practices. Most of the time, people from Africa would kill just so they could find a diamond and sell it in the market. Read more... (543 words)

An increasing number of people are choosing to purchase jewelry with man made diamonds instead of mined stones. This phenomenon is largely due to the concern over the environmental impact diamond mining has in some parts of the world.
A beautifully cut diamond is a joy to behold, and traditionally, it has been a token of love and commitment. Unfortunately, most people don’t realize the impact that mining these gems has on the Earth. It can require the removal of as much as a ton or rock and earth to recover a single one-carat stone. Open pit mining is definitely not a joy to behold. It leaves a tragic and ugly scar upon a once beautiful landscape.
But that is only the beginning. This method of mining damages the local ecosystem greatly and pollutes the surrounding streams and rivers with huge amounts of cyanide and mercury (the products used to free gems from their rock casings). This adversely affects humans and animals alike. Luckily, recent developments in man made diamonds provide an excellent, environmentally responsible option. Read more... (562 words)

Scientific advancements have now brought the consistency and the quality of a faux diamond to an almost indistinguishable form. Brought about some scientific breakthrough, faux diamonds are practically indistinguishable by an untrained eye. In addition to that, even specialized eyes will have a difficult time telling which one isn’t real and which one is. The only way to tell the difference is through powerful microscopes or loupes.
Affordability – Perhaps the greatest advantage of faux diamonds over real diamonds is their affordability. With exceptional quality and consistency, it is hard to say that people will turn these precious gems down. Having said that, these faux diamonds will definitely take over real diamonds.
Virtually Indistinguishable – On top of its effective pricing strategy, faux diamonds are also practically impossible to distinguish with just the naked eye. Scientists were able to craft these diamonds as close and precise with real diamonds that nearly every characteristic is mimicked. From the diamond’s cut, its stunning brilliance, and its glass-cutting properties, nearly everything is in perfect tandem with the real thing, that there’s just no way to tell the difference with just the naked eye. In general, most people love diamonds, but are deterred by the cost of owning them. The once popular synthetic cubic zirconia (CZ), an inexpensive option, is heavy and lacks the brilliance that makes diamonds so desirable. In large sizes, CZs don’t even look real to the naked eye. How, then, can one purchase the fire and sparkle at a reasonable price? Lab-created gems have come of age. They are no longer poor substitutes for the real thing – they are the real thing. In fact, they go one step farther — these stones are flawless.
Cultured, or man-made, stones are the same carbon crystals with the same chemical, optical and physical properties as those stones that nature created in the underground mines throughout the world. Cultured stones offer the same brilliance, sparkle, fire and scintillation. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) grades the cultured gems by the same standards it uses for the mined ones, although its rating describes the stones as “laboratory grown.” In fact, the GIA acknowledges that these ARE diamonds, just man-made.
