en and women throughout the ages have worn leggings as protection from the elements. They were worn exposed and partially covered depending on the season and occasion. In the U.S leggings can also be called tights and they are generally ankle length.
In the late 1800s soldiers of some countries wore leggings because they were good at keeping out mud and sand from entering their boots. The U.S military also used leggings during World War 2 but by 1944 they slowly began to disappear from military service. In the 1980’s there started a fitness craze and that was when leggings became very fashionable for women.
But before the 80’s in the 1960’s there was brief interest in leggings, they were made of cotton Lycra blend and they wore a wide belt at the top. But because they were figure hugging only women who were comfortable with their figure tended to wear them. The exercising ones that were mentioned earlier was a nylon Lycra blend.
Unbelievably by the early 1990s leggings had become even more popular than jeans. By the late 90’s though they all but disappeared and it was not until around 2005 that they made a com back. Stirrup leggings have been used around the world by many people to cover their bodies from the waist to the ankles. However, there are also other types of stirrup leggings which are shorter than this. The young generation is usually more incline to wearing these leggings than the older generation is.
Different materials have been used in the making of these leggings ranging from very expensive to fairly cheap ones. They have however become a fashion wear rather than protective clothes against cold for the legs. Stirrup leggings have evolved to assume a characteristic close to the normal tight jeans that we have in the market. They have also been used to serve more or less the same purposes. This is because nowadays you do not necessarily need to wear the leggings as under garments.
These leggings are designed in various ways to meet the fashion demands of the wearers. There are those which are designed more or less the same as the ordinary tights that we know, though with all the characteristics of the leggings. Some are made with pockets, fancy seams and attractive decorations and prints.

I personally think that companies that charge a high amount of money for womens jeans are ridiculous because they are made out of the same material and made the same exact way that a pair of jeans which cost twenty dollars would be made out of. The only difference is usually the name and the fact that there are holes and tears in the name brand jeans. So you are paying for someone to ruin jeans.
Some companies take and sand wash men and women’s jeans to make them look worn down and people actually pay extra money for this. I was looking at jeans the other day on a website and the normal jeans with no holes cost as much as twenty or twenty five dollars and the jeans that had paint splatters and holes in them cost almost forty dollars, and both of them were the same brand!
I think that women’s jeans are cheaper than men’s jeans because jeans appeal more to women and they will buy them because women usually like to shop a whole lot and men do not like it as much.
