Why Are Hunter Wellingtons So Popular
Monday, 8. February 2010
Hunter Wellingtons were first made around 1870 and have been the leading manufacturer in Wellies ever since. It wasn’t till the 1st world war, that the quality of the boots were recognised. They were asked to make boots suitable for the trenches and wet conditions the soldiers would have to endure. With well over 1 million boots made, the 2nd world war was exactly the same but Hunters also made other essential war materials.
The first orthopedic wellington that was ever made was the original green wellington in 1955. This is Hunters iconic boot. The materials used to make the boots are always being developed to ensure the wellies are the most comfortable and hard wearing boots on the market.
The Original Hunter collection is a comfortable, hard wearing boot for all occasions at a reasonable price. It is now the favorite amongst all ages, coming in a wide range of colours and styles.
In 1977 Hunter was awarded a Royal Warrant from the HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. Shortly followed in 1987 by a Royal Warrant from the HM The Queen for the quality of boots supplied to the Royal family. The wellies kept very important feet dry.
