Black pearl is frequently referred to as Black Tahitian Pearls because the pearl oyster that produces it can only be found in Tahiti and French Polynesian Islands in the South Pacific Ocean.
Black pearl is very rare because Pinctada Margaritifera rarely produces pearls. White pearl oysters also rarely produce naturally black pearls. This type of oyster is sensitive to changing climate and ocean conditions.
