The key to looking your best is finding the perfect match of clothes for you. The right outfit has a good cut and fits you nicely on parts you would like to highlight and hides the ones you’d like to downplay. To pull off a fabulous look, you only need to make some considerations when selecting from a variety of clothes out there. Not all plus size clothes are guaranteed to make you look good. Choose the ones that best suit your body type as not all women of the same dress size are exactly the same. You have to know yourself well enough to be able to choose which clothes would enhance your appearance and which ones simply don’t work.

Let’s start with the pants. There are many different cuts in pants and some of them would look really good on bigger women and some just don’t. Wide leg pants that are boot cut are the most flattering because they look proportionally good for your figure. Stay away from pants that taper downward such as skinny pants. There is a reason these pants are called skinny. They are meant to make skinny people look fuller. Adding more volume is not the kind of balance plus size women need.

You can choose long skirts that flow outward to cover some of your curves but ones that shorter ones such as A-line skirts also work well in emphasizing a fuller and curvier figure. Try to keep the skirt length no shorter than the mid section of your knee. This type of skirt gives you a leaner look and visually better proportion.

Dresses can mask extra inches on your hips and thighs and leave you with more leg room. Wrap around dresses look nice as the v-neckline adds more vertical lines. Put on a black tube or any tube of matching dark color if the neckline is really low. The line of dark color in the middle should reduce the appearance of width on the chest area. Show a little more skin on your back and put your hair up. Displaying your nape and your back draws eyes away from curves you’re trying to hide. The aesthetic value of the nape is often underestimated.

When you’re choosing sweaters or anything with long sleeves, stay away from ones that would sit close to your waist line. Find ones that would extend to your hips and below. It’s better to layer your clothing and not just wear a solid sweater on top.
